I bought two of these at seperately times to try them out individually first. I had cracked, dry infected ankles with severe swelling of one lower leg only, and scaly heels. Antibiotics are not enough. You have to keep the foot/heel off the bed as much as possible. Keep the infected/affected area covered if there is drainage/oozing from them, or it will get contaminate and get inside these supports. They can be easily wiped off with a antibacterial wipe that is safe for the skin-not Clorox or Lysol wipes. These are machine washable in a delicates bag on gentle cycle, and air dry. To prolong the life, do not wash everyday. That is why it is good to just wipe out the inside and outside of the item daily to remove any dead skin/drainage-also to prevent re-contamination. Label each one LEFT or RIGHT foot to prevent Cross Contamination. The Velcro closures curl up within 4-6 days of using, on the ends, but so far they still work. They have a warranty, but frankly, I will be amazed if they last a whole year cos of the Velcro. The part that holds the foot up does not cover the bottom of the foot as much as I would like. They cover about 1/4 of a woman's USA size ten (10) foot. They have been a miracle for me though. I had bilateral infected scaly, oozing ankles since 12/21/16. By 1/25/17, both ankles were 95% healed. I also used antibiotics, creams ,etc, but I know now at 62 I will need to continue to use these at night. I wear the puffy blue padded things during the day when in bed which is most of the time. Times will tell how long these will last me.
